The Pacific Northwest once had 22 active manufactured housing factories.

Today, we’re down to fewer than 10 — and several more may close in the next 12–18 months.

At the same time, recent legislative changes are opening the door for manufactured and modular housing to expand like never before.

That creates a rare moment:

We have existing factory infrastructure, sitting idle or underutilized…

And a growing need for scalable, affordable housing solutions.

Those two things don’t often align.
The Pacific Northwest has a real — and time-sensitive — opportunity to become a national leader in factory-built housing.

But it won’t happen by accident.

It will require coordination between:
Investors willing to deploy capital
Builders ready to scale production
Operators who understand the end market
Policymakers who continue to support innovation

If we miss this window, that infrastructure will disappear — and with it, the ability to build at scale locally.

Opportunities like this don’t come around often.

We shouldn’t waste it.
